15.2 pounds lost forever!

I have been a little absent from the blog because I have been busy working out at the gym whenever I can, eating right (which means looking up recipes and actually cooking things), and still trying to fit in time to read. 

What I am doing is apparently working because in the 38 days that I have been on this journey I am already down 15.2 pounds!

I couldn’t be happier that what I am doing is actually working! 

I will try to post more often. I plan on posting my workout routine at the gym and maybe some of the recipes I have found and loved.

Rest Days

Today’s workout at the gym was so hard. My body fought my every move. It was awful. Had I been in this situation a year ago, I would have given up and gone home, not even trying to finish the workout.

I managed finished the workout I have been doing and I am proud of myself for that.

I think I have discovered the problem I had today. Before yesterday all my rest days were active rest days. I didn’t just sit around all day, I was up cleaning or whatever. Yesterday I did absolutely nothing.

I think my body needs active rest days instead of rest days. I have found that by reading some articles online that having active rest days will most likely solve the problem I had today.

So, that is my plan.

Serving sizes

I used to think that serving sizes on food was very small. This afternoon for lunch I made on of the Knorr Rice Sides- the cheddar broccoli flavor- a few weeks ago I could have eaten the entire bag, 2.5 servings, myself and still been slightly hungry. 

Well, today when I made it for lunch I was only able to eat 1 of the 2.5 servings. I was completely satisfied after eating 1 serving. 

I have shrunk my stomach to a normal size. Which is wonderful, I am so happy. Plus it will save me money on food. What used to make one meal can now make 2! 

On a side note, apparently cleaning the house burns a lot of calories. I cleaned- aka a folded up and broke down cardboard boxes- for about 100 minutes, I timed myself to see how long it would take to get it all done. I tracked the boxes as housework on the SparkPeople app on exercise, and it was a ton of calories burned! (Which it should have been- I worked my butt off)

Treadmill and Moving

I finally got settled enough in my new house to try to bring the treadmill in the house. We just got it done and I am thrilled.
I have been MIA for a while, and I have not been eating so great in that time, or working out. I quit Weight Watchers because I can’t afford it. I don’t think I need it to eat right. I just have to keep myself accountable.

Today is a new day and I am ready to tackle it!

Feeling good and upping the difficulty…

I upped my walking to 30mins today after three times of walking for 25mins and doing yoga two times. My feet and legs are hurting and I was watching the clock tick down the last third of the walk, begging the clock to hurry up. You would think that adding five minutes would not be that big of a deal, but it was. After I finished my walk my legs were a little shaky, but I felt really energized and more awake then I was before I started. I am so happy I made it through the 30 minutes of my exercise. I felt great after walking both mentally and physically. I am so glad I pushed through. There will be sometimes that will be hard to get it going and to finish it. I just have to remember how I feel after I walk. I feel better after I workout, both about myself and physically better.

1st Workout and Food…

I did the yoga for indie rockers DVD yesterday afternoon. It was a lot harder to do than the last time I did it. Of course I weighed about 30 pounds less last time I did it. My legs were so weak when I got done. It could be worse though, I could have not been able to do it. I was able to do it, it will just take time and practice for it to get easier.

I have been thinking about it for awhile and I think I am going to go mostly vegan. It is not really possible in my situation to go fully vegan at the moment. I will try to eat vegan the best I can in every situation but sometimes there is no vegan option, so I have to eat what is available. I think it will help my health a lot. I just need to make healthy choices food wise. Snack on baby carrots and celery instead of pop-tarts and chips. I think that writing down what I eat will help a lot as well. It will make me realize and take a hard look at what I am eating and how much. My main worry about changing my diet is that I buy the cheapest food I can right now because I really can’t afford to do otherwise. Hopefully I can find foods that my cost a bit more but are more filling. I also need to work on not eating when I am bored. I am going to start making hot tea or coffee when I am not sure if I am hungry or bored and see if just drinking that helps.
